I was looking to get a puppy for my boys, we selected a West Highland White Terrier because we had one years ago. I went to search on the internet and found several sites, 2 of them called my attention, giving puppies for adoption from $650 to $750 USD + Delivery. I decided to get in contact with them thru their website where I provided my name, email address and phone number. Within the next hour I received a text from 1 470 221 1883. They told me they are located in Atlanta, GA with no more details but asking some other information like to make sure I was the right person to adopt a puppy. I provided my home address, how many family members we are, why we wanted to adopt a puppy and my phone number. I didn't ask any questions but the total cost. Once we agreed by text on the price they proceeded to ask me for a deposit of the total $900.00 so they can send me the contract to formalize the transaction. They told transfer the amount of $900 thru Zelle, they gave me the following email address to transfer the money ([email protected] under the name of Nana Kyei-Asare). On the next day I received a text from 1 402 206 0719 telling me that they lost the previous cellphone and they will continue texting me from this new phone number, this was my first glimpse that something was not good, but I checked in their website and this phone number was listed as a contact number so it gave me confidence to continue with the process. After a few texts we agreed to transfer the $900 thru PayPal because fortunately my bank didn't authorized the transactions by Zelle or Apple Pay (they gave me this other number 1 336 521 2878). To do the transaction by PayPal the gave me another email address ([email protected]). They asked us to use Friends and Family for this transaction. We did the money transfer and they send to me the contract which I signed and sent back; also asked me to send screenshots to [email protected]. On Monday morning 12/28/20 I received a text telling me that the puppy was at the courier company (akg courier services ltd which is a fake company as well) and told me that since I was the new owner of the puppy I needed to pay $1500 for a refundable insurance. They asked me to split in two deposits of $750 to different accounts ([email protected] & [email protected]). Same thing, did the deposit, they asked me to do it as Friends & Family and to send the screenshots via email.

Today 12/30/20 I receive a text around 6:30am on a bad manner telling me that I didn't follow their instructions and that I had to request a refund for both deposits and to make a new deposit. I told them that we followed the instruction and that I will not make a new deposit. After this I texted them and asked to talk over the phone; they told me they will call me soon because they were very busy. They never called, so I texted them again asking to provide with a phone number to contact the courier company so I can pay to them the $1500 directly instead. They didn't provide the information but then I received a call from the supposed courier company (1 562 281 6116), they told me that I needed to pay for the insurance at any moneygram office to a person in Cameroon. Once I saw this, I realized that I was a victim of fraud. After a few minutes a received a second call from the courier company telling me that the puppy will be sent to quarantine if I don't cover the insurance fee and that I will be charged for puppy abandon. I told them that I needed proof that the puppy exists and evidence of her location and they just send a picture of a puppy which is similar to the one posted in the breeder website. This just confirmed that this was an absolute fraud. I also believe that the email addresses provided by the seller are from another victims, not sure but now I am scared that my email address would be used for the same activities.
