On Wednesday, August 14, 2019, I received an e-mail from Alexandra Johnson regarding the position. It stated that I was chosen for the position and that I was to fill out the employee agreement (which outlined the salary and benefits), complete the payment form, read the FAQ file and Job Description, and then sign the documents and scan them back. The closing of the email stated:

I filled out the forms and sent them back. The same day, I got a response welcoming me to the department and that I was to follow this link and register for access to the control panel (http://customer-mservice.com/panel/user/).
I am attaching the documents I was to fill out (the payment form, job description, Employee agreement, and FAQ list)
According to the company's documents, I would receive $3880 per month plus a $40 bonus for every package that was processed.
Basically, the job was to receive shipments at my home, mark them as "received" in the control panel (which had the names of the senders, the package numbers, description of the package, and shipping info). Then I was to upload a photo of the item(s) and a packing slip/invoice (if there was one). Once those items were uploaded, the option to request a shipping label would appear. Once I put the request in, I would wait until the label became available. Once it was available, I would remove any and all other labels from the package and replace it with the one I was given. Next, I was to take the package to its designated shipper (UPS, USPS, FedEx), get a receipt, upload a photo of it in the portal, and mark it as "sent" in the portal. Once all of those steps were completed, the portal would reflect the $40 per package.
The portal indicated that my payment date was Friday, September 20, 2019. By then, the balance I would receive was $4,440 ( the monthly salary of $3880 + $560 which totals to $40 per package bonus) for sending the packages, according to the portal. I had already filled out the payment form and indicated I would like to be paid via Paypal and gave my paypal address. Well, that day came and went and I still did not receive payment. I sent Alexandra Johnson a message through the portal that afternoon asking about payment. I never heard anything back. I got an email that said it was from PayPal telling me that I needed to verify my identity because they put a limit on my account to protect me against suspicious activity. I noticed the email was sent from [email protected], I had a feeling it wasn't actually paypal because their email address comes across as [email protected] when they send emails. I don't know for sure if there is any relation to that email and this company or not.
On Saturday, I received a package. I marked it "sent", uploaded photos of the items, and requested a shipping label in the portal.
Monday, September 23, 2019, I sent another message through the portal asking about payment and inquiring about when the shipping label would be available. Still no response. So I decided to call the number at the bottom of her email (754) 212-9097, it rang once and then an automated message came on saying "Hello. You have reached our company. No one is able to come to the phone right now. Please leave a message."
I thought this was odd, so I decided to do some research. I visited the website that was in the bottom of the email,

The website had a chat box to chat with representatives, but when I put my name and email in, it stated that no one was available and that someone would get back with me via email. There is another phone number listed on their website, +1(954) 280-2399, I called it and got the exact same response as the other phone number. When doing a reverse phone number lookup, both numbers appear to be Google Voice numbers, in other words, not an actual number.
Then I decided to go even further and look into Florida's Division of Corporations. The Employee Agreement document had space for the employer rep to sign. In that space, it says "Michael Lewis, HR Manager" with a STR LLC stamp. Inside the stamp is an EIN Number. It says "EIN 04-3613918". I put the EIN in the search field on the Division of Corporation's website and found that a voluntary dissolution was filed on 09/19/2008 by Barry, Stanley of 5935 Vintage Oaks Circle Delray Beach, FL 33484.
Going back to the STR LLC website, there is a link at the bottom of the page that says "Certificates". When I clicked on it, it showed the Annual Report from 2008. This page has the exact same information listed on the Division of Corporation's website.
But things still were not adding up. Under "Our Contacts" is a short slide show with photos and quotes. One of them says "At STR LLC, our vision is simple: the customer is always king"- Peter Brunswich CFO of STR LLC. Another slide said "We stay professional and pragmatic and find the best solutions- Joseph Katz Founder of STR LLC"
Neither of these people exists. It also states that the company was founded in 2013, but according to the records on the Division of Corporations, the company was started in 2002.
I decided to investigate even further to see if the website and the portal I had been using was legit or a scam. So I went to https://www.urlvoid.com/ and put in the link for the company's website (https://str-service.me/about-us/). According to the site, the domain was registered on 02/06/2019. The server location is in the US, Latitude is 34.0318/ longitude -118.425, located in Los Angeles, California. The IP address 198.54.116.43
Next, I put in the link to the portal I had been using (http://customer-mservice.com/panel/user/packages.php)
The domain was registered 02/01/2019. The server location is the Netherlands. Latitude 52.3824 Longitude 4.8995 with the IP address of 51.15.94.57.
