I got a voicemail from "Sara Ried" saying "I'm calling in reference to your federal student loan. I need to discuss some changes to your student loan and payment options. Be sure to give mea call at 888-356-2550, your reference number, please have this handy is 60603."

She didn't identify whom she was representing. I returned the call and talked to an agent who identified her reference number as 108 and immediately asked what company she represented as they weren't identified on their automated system. She said "Strategic Student Solutions". I asked if she was part of a federal program and she told me she was a "3rd party lender." I told her that the voicemail left was very misleading as the agent didn't identify whom she was representing and I could have easily assumed they were a federal program. The woman then hung up.

If I weren't as savvy about loan sharks out there, I could have easily thought she represented Fed Loan Servicing, my true provider. These calls are intentionally misleading.

For the last year we have made payments toward what we thought was a college loan. We have recently found out that no payment have been made towards the loan at all and the college just told us that they are a scammer. They even called and threatened us when they could not access our account. We have paid them over 1000.00 dollars that they have apparently pocketed. Do not trust them. Contact the college for loan info.

I was out of school six months before my federal student loans were to begin payments. Due to my financial status at the time, I knew I could not start repaying my loans at the given amount (equal payments over 10 years). I called my federal loan servicer (Fed Loan Servicing) and called a number from that website. I went through the process on the phone and gave them my personal information under the assurance that I would be switching to an income repayment plan. I was still convinced that this was through the federal gov. I was told I would be lowering my payments and would pay $266 each month for the first three months, and then $49.99 for the next $36. I only recently learned that the payment were not going to repay my federal student loans and were instead going for an "administrative fee" which did not provide any service. They said this was how I was getting the income repayment plan.

I checked in with Fed Loan Servicing and found that I am indeed on income repayment plan, and I haven't had to pay anything because of it. I cancelled my service with Strategic Student Solutions over phone and email. (Note: My representative was Misha Fraser, [email protected], she was incredibly rude on the phone and via email.) I worry because looking back on the contract I signed, they have a lot of my personal information.

I do not know the relationship between Fed Loan Servicing and Strategic Student Solutions. I want to trust Fed Loan Servicing because they've always been thorough with me on the phone to my knowledge, but I believe I got the SSS number from their site if I remember correctly.

I received a phone call They told me they were apart of the Obama student forgiveness loans and that it it reduce my student loans. They told me if I paid $253 for 3 months that my payments would go down to $49.99 a month so I did. I started receiving my student loan papers in the mail from Fed Loan saying they haven't received my payments so I called them and talked with them letting them know I made payments and they told me that it was a scam and they don't have any record showing that I made those payments. I was very disappointed and heart broken about this because it was my hard earned money.
