After not hearing anything for almost two weeks from original agent keith or Tim Perez (processing dept.) i decided to contact the company to ensure that they received my faxed documents. When I called 1-888-443-9205 it took several hour before my call was finally able to go through. When call was successful I was informed by an unknown agent that they were not with Student Financial Aid USA. Unfortunately the number that I had been calling is provided through a marketing company that sold the number to different companies offering the same services.
I was immediately shocked and felt as if i had been scammed I contacted federal student aid and was informed that the company was a third party and could not be verified. I immediately contacted my bank and changed all of my information since my account could be compromised. I attempted to contact the number several more times and was answered by a host of other companies. when I was finally answered by a Student financial aid USA female employee I was told that the representative could not help me with my concerns because she was on lunch-break. she stated that she only answered the phones to relieve other workers. When I asked about the company's website she reported that there was no website. When I asked about an email address she hesitantly provided [email protected] but quickly stated that the email was only for sending documents. She only wanted to take down my name and number and a promise to return call. I was never contacted.
I followed up by calling the direct number to "Keith" 949-377-1291 only to find out the number was to a Crema Cafe in Irvine, California. I am truly disgusted by my findings and more so that there are fake companies out to steal peoples money and identity. I hope that my report saves someone else time and heartache. I don't know how my credit will affected by this but I have taken measures to protect myself.. I always thought of my self as pretty smart. This makes me feel otherwise.
