I was contacted by Capital Services who said they are working with the Department of Education in an effort to help individuals with subsidized and unsubsidized loans, consolidate their loans into one monthly payment. I spoke with the Department of Education who assured me that I would never be solicited as well as the fact that this was a "third party business" that was not affiliated with them. This company "Capital Services" spoofed emails with a return address of "donotreplystudentaid.gov" which is the actual reply email from correspondence I receive from the FEDERAL student aid emails. They sent me spoofed emails regarding the consolidation of my current loans and explained to me that I could either make a payment of $299 in three consecutive payments every two weeks or a one time payment of $899. They call with American accents, are very polite, and id the number they call from as "Capital Services", have pleasant music while you wait, pass you off from agent to agent as if you are speaking with a credible source. Please shut these guys down, they tricked me initially because my debt is substantial and the thought of being able to alleviate these payments accessed a vulnerable part of my psyche, and it worked. They are very good as I'm sure they all are, they're no longer just calling from the other side of the world, appreciate anything you can do to help the next person out.
