I received a call from Student Loan relief solutions and claiming to be able to reduce my monthly student loan payments and student loan forgiveness. The gentleman on the phone indicated that all phone calls were recorded. Paolo asked for the balance of my federal student loans, as well as my annual income, and what I currently pay monthly for repayment. He came back on the phone with instant approval and a reduced monthly payment of of nearly half what I currently paid, which sounded very attractive. He claimed that their agency was affiliated with the Department of Education and asked for my email address to access the FAFSA website and later the secret code to access my account, in which, case he told me how much was my actual balance of student loans. He also claimed that after the repayment period of 240 months, my student loan balance would be forgiven. With that, he indicated that I qualified for instant approval, and he can email me the contact and review with me over the phone. He further indicated they would only charge me a fee of $99.00 per month for the duration of four months while my student loans are in forbearance. He verified my address, social security number, and credit card information for payment. When I received the initial email, the contract looked suspiciously unprofessional. I made the mistake of correcting my name, as well as providing a cell phone number. I was on hold for quite awhile and hung up. When he called me back I said that I would not be signing the contract via docu-sign. He asked why, I did not give a reason and repeated that I would not be signing. I could not locate this company in the ScamPulse.com after the phone call even though he claimed, as such, in which case I am horrified how easily I was duped to provide my personal information over the phone.
