Claims to be a man named Mark Matthews with “Student Loan Support”. Tells me that their records indicate that I may be eligible for student loan forgiveness but that I never completed the ‘required documents’. Then says if I want to proceed with the application that I have to speak with them TODAY. And to call them back at ***-***-****. All of this was said over voicemail because I didn’t pick up the call. (Called from ***-***-****, voicemail from ***-***-****, provided a call-back number that was ***-***-****)

I googled fed loan to retrieve a customer service phone number and the number provided popped up. Upon calling the number found on the search a gentlemen answered the phone, "student loan support". I immediately thought it was myfedloan government loan agency. He asked me to verify my personal information ssc #, birth date, monthly household income amount, home address, and phone number. He warned me that my account was about to fall delinquent and I needed to act on my account right away in order to prevent my drivers license from becoming suspended, my wages were about to be garnished, any tax refunds were going to be withheld from this point forward. BUT he said could prevent all this from happening today by paying $799 and he could bring my monthly payment down to $0 for the next year. I told him I have never heard of fedloan asking for such down payment to help with my account and I asked him if the money would be applied to my loan balance. He replied saying this wouldn't be deducted from any outstanding loan balance, so I quested why they would require such a large amount of money and he said it would go towards underwriters. I began to question weather this was a scam and asked him for his name and employee number. He said his name was John employee #33652. I than asked to speak with his supervisor and he responded by telling me his supervisors were all extremely backed up. "John" said he would have to submit my information to get on a waiting list for a call back from a supervisor. I responded by letting him know this all didn't add up and sounded very suspicious. He said he would send the request onto the waiting list and I would get a call back within 48 hours. Its been 4 days and I haven't received a call. I decided to log onto the myfedloan website and call he number posted and they confirmed that a phone call has not been detected from me over the last week. They recommended I report the call to ScamPulse.com and place a freeze an all 3 credit reporting agencies.
