"Hey,
I am 68 years old and a US Navy veteran, If you don’t feel comfortable I understand but all I can give you is my word. I have 4 grandkids . My wife and I just do this to help people with low income that’s why I sell them for $650 due to passion for these babies. So we are not a big business. If you can’t trust me that’s fine you can get a kitten from the shelter or from a local store but the thing is the kittens will be very expensive and from the shelter are most often traumatized. If you want you can send $500 upfront and the rest when you receive the kitten.
Trust is the key even if I had shown you all the proof and still don’t end up sending the kitten. So please trust me and you will get him to you.
Many thanks."
Should have listened to my gut. But I wanted that cat so much.
The next email came from [email protected]. They advised that they needed to ship the cat in a thermal electronic crate. While they did not sell the crate, the fee requested was just a security deposit which would be refunded on delivery of the cat. Again they asked for the money to be sent through Zelle. $1,180. was sent to Tayler (the name registered at Zelle). [email protected] Please note that the name registered with Zelle is spelled incorrectly.
I then received an email from [email protected]. They sent a Tracking Number for the shipment and advised that it would be delivered by 7:30 p.m, May 10, 2021 to our Florida address.
After this, I received another email from [email protected] requiring $1,299. as insurance. This was to be paid to [email protected] through Zelle. At this point I knew I was scammed and I did NOT remit this "insurance" payment. As further verification that I was being scammed, my mother went on to the "Stunningscottishfoldguys.com" website and expressed interest in the cat identified as JAMES (i.e. the one I ordered). Almost immediately, she received the following email from Scottish Family.

to me
Thanks for contacting me with regards to my Scottish fold kitten James, He's actually my best pick from the litter ,great temperament and very active and gets along with my great Dane. With shots up to date and vaccination paperwork available .
We had both Parents tested negative for HCM , He is currently 11 weeks old vaccinated for feline leukemia and FIV .I'm asking $650 for him. He would come with alongside the following ;
5 Year Written Health Guarantee, Dewormed, Vet Certificate Signed By A Licenced Vet ,Litter Box, Toys ,Lifetime Breeders Support.
We sell only to homes that demonstrate a strong feeling for the love of pets, So let me ask you some few questions to evaluate the kind of home our kitten will be moving into..
-Have you ever owned/raised a kitten or other pet before?
-Do you have a vet near you?
-Does your environment accept pets?
-Are you a breeder?
-Where precisely are you located?
-What is your direct phone number?
Sorry for the questions, we love our kittens so much that we try to give them only to the best homes.
Thank you."
