He said that he was working on an offshore rig and that he was unable to come home due to not having any money and that he needed $2,000 to be able to get to the states, I wired the money through my credit union and then he asked for $8,000 more. I realize now that this is a scam and have blocked him.

It started on Social Media: Facebook/Instagram messages, then he asked me to move over to WhatsApp and Google Hangouts.

Basically they said if he doesn't pay he's getting thrown off the ship. Suntrust Shipping Company was supposedly the name of the company he works as the Offshore Rig for.
