A week later I get a text since I left my phone number in the reply. Hey, Sorry for my late response. Yes the Professional Aluminium Extension Ladder is still available. For more details, please email my sister at [email protected]
regarding pick up schedule. Thanks

So I reply to the email and get this reply.

Hello myemailaddress,

The Ladder used to be owned and cherished by my husband who happened to use and clean it in December last year before his demise. I am almost done moving my properties but I do not think my husband would be pleased if his Ladder was sold considering his love and addiction to it.

However, I am hoping to give it to someone who is as passionate as he was about the item and will care about it too. The Ladder is with the movers that helped me move, all you need, If you do not mind making arrangements with the movers, I can get in touch with them in order to have them reroute it.

I believe this should not cost you too much since the distance can be recovered in a day or two... Apologies for the inconvenience. Just so you know, I am not giving out a vestige or a waste, It's in a very good condition.

Regards
Dr Kiara

Musical instrument posted for free on Craigslist. After contact, the seller said the instrument was held at SuperMoverDelivery, provided a reference number, and said to contact them to arrange "reroute". That delivery would have some fee associated with it. After some investigation, SuperMoverDelivery does not seem to exist in real life. It is a residential address, they do not respond to email or phone, and the website is only a few months old. This appears to be a scam, so further communication was dropped.

All of the above stories are exactly what happened to me today. I am thankful you shared so I stoped communicating and sent no money. I was very excited by the Harp of which I had been seeking and thus blinded to the reality

Free harp listed on facebook marketplace. I have been looking for one so we responded. Story is 'his wife was a concert harpist and she recently died so he wanted to give it away not sell it. I exchanged many emails with him expressing my gratitude and excitement. Then he told me that the harp was with his movers and I needed to pay to have in rerouted. He gave me identical information to the reports above. When they asked for a venmo I became suspicious and sure enough this is a repeat scam. Very sad. I really want a harp. Wasted several hours in the end and no money.. but feel so bad this is out there. I am not usually scammed and very tech savy. This is a wicked one.

There is a post on giveaway Harp on the Facebook marketplace. As I recently took some lessons on the harp. I do want one in my apartment for the daily practice. The "owner" tries to direct me to a delivery company, and the delivery company will try to collect the delivery fee, interstate tax fee, and all that. The email goes like this:

Thanks for your interest. The Harp used to be owned and played by my wife who is now deceased. Now, I am currently moving into a new place and I really do not have enough space to keep the harp and I do not want to sell it as it is a thing so dear to my late wife. So I decided to give it out to someone who is as passionate as my wife was about music and harps. A lady who first showed interest in the harp didn't show up at the point of delivery when the movers moving my properties tried to deliver the harp to her, so I decided that the harp is going to be with the movers. If you do not mind making arrangements with the movers, I can get in touch with them in order to have them reroute it. I believe this shouldn’t cost you too much since the distance can be recovered in a day or two... Apologies for the inconvenience.

Just so you know, I am not giving out a vestige or a waste, It's in a very good condition.

How silly I am to believe what he said is true. Then I asked him for the delivery company contacts. He replied as:

Thanks for the response. I got through to the movers now letting them know they will move the piano. The rep I spoke with said you should go on their website at www.supermoverdelivery.com and chat with an agent via the live chat on their website to initiate a reroute. She also said you should present this reference ID: BAN23101RP to the agent letting the agent know David referred you. I would like you to reach out to them as soon as you can. I can ask my cousin to remove the post on Facebook Marketplace. I will be waiting to hear from you on how it goes with movers.

The supermoverdelivery.com gave me the quote and has asked me to Venmo them the payment. Of course, my paypal declined them. Then they ask me to zelle them. Again, my Zelle account has been frozen due to these "scam" things they probably have done a million times. They asked me to purchase e-apple gift card for the amount of $160 from Walmart, then I waited for a couple of hours for the delivery confirmation.

The second day they asked me to pay for the interstate tax of $125 before delivery. After that, they said the $100 Apple gift card was not activated. At this moment, I realized that this has to be a scam!

I am a new grad, and new to the Boston area as well. I am very naïvely to believe others, and never thought of scams that could happen to me, or to the neighborhood I am surrounded. This is a real-life story. Hopefully, this report helps everyone to think and clear their mind before doing anything that just sounds too good to be true~

I replied to the ad and several days later received a text with an email address and instructions to email to make arrangements.

They emailed this:

Then this one...

Thanks for your prompt response. I got through to the movers now letting them know they will move the harp. The harp is at the mover warehouse. The representative I spoke with said you should go on their website at www.supermoverdelivery.com and chat with an agent via the live chat on their website to initiate a reroute. She also said you should present this referral ID: OBA010HARP to the agent letting the agent know Dr Kiara referred you, kindly give me feedback once you get it rerouted to your place.

Thanks
Dr Kiara

I did the chat on the website and they quoted me options but would only accept payment via PayPal or Venmo. When I said how about credit card, check or cash they said no. Then I pasted one of the reviews from this website about how it's a scam into the chat and poof! the chat window evaporated.

So sad - I actually want a harp :)

Thanks for posting. Your story saved me today.

The Craigslist ad offered a free very nice guitar. The contact person told me to contact her mover because the guitar was in storage with all their stuff, after her husband died. She ("Dr. Tammy Cloud") told me that they would ship it to me and that I would need to pay a small shipping charge and offered to help pay if I couldn't afford it. After making contact with the mover and giving them my address, they gave me a quote for shipping options. I chose one for $110 and they asked me to choose a payment method. I chose PayPal and asked for their email address to send the payment. They gave me a suspicious Hotmail address and asked me to use "Friends and Family" to do the payment, so the cashier would get the payment right away. I got suspicious and asked why a business would use a generic email address like Hotmail. They gave me an evasive answer and prompted me to pay in the next 30 minutes. I looked them up on the web and found they had a bad scam-alert score, so I told them that it was too risky. They cut off the chat line immediately.

The scammer used Facebook Market Place to advertise a Free Harp that they were giving away for free but it must be delivered, no pick-up. The scammer instructed to contact the delivery company to arrange the delivery of item. The delivery company, https://www.supermoverdelivery.com, suggested a range of prices ranging from about $800 to $420 for delivery with various delivery times. I negotiated $200 with 27-day delivery time and they proceeded to process payment requesting I use either PayPal or Venmo. All of this communication is done via chat through their site. They provided information to make a payment via Venmo to a "cashier"... I made $1 test payment. They received a test payment but were upset with me about it and instructed me to make one payment but now to a different "cashier". I tried calling the office, but nobody answered. I offered to drop off the rest of the money at their Bakersfield location where the Harp was located but they did not accept. I asked the question about the fact that they are running an international delivery company from a residential address in Bakersfield. That's when the chat function disappeared. I tried contacting them again to confirm payment made via Venmo for a Harp and the chat disappeared again... there is no way for me to get in touch with them...

Inquired on Facebook Marketplace about a piano. Owner of said piano stated that the last individual that the piano was supposed to be delivered to never showed and the movers still had the piano. I agreed to pay to reroute to myself. That's when everything got weird. Many of the links on the website don't work, social media profiles don't work, and as I was able to chat with a Raul, they were able to populate the order but got scammy with how to pay. They only do Zelle, Paypal, or CC (if it's over $1000). Say what? So then I started digging into the legitimacy of the moving company and found that others have almost identical situations involving a piano.

- Austin, TX, USA

I was searching for used pianos on Facebook marketplace and found a free piano. They said they were in the process of moving and had it in storage and to contact their movers to arrange delivery. I realized it was a scam when they started asking for more detailed tax information before shipping could be arranged. It was done through the website chat.
