I received a text message stating that I made it to the next step for the position of Remote Data Entry/Customer service that I applied for on Indeed. However, when I went to look at my recent applications on Indeed and LinkedIn, neither had an application to this company. They told me to download the app called Telegram and add Rebecca Woods (+12176434654) and connect with her for an interview. When I did that, the whole process seemed suspicious. She briefly interviewed me and offered me a job on the spot. I did not have to give my social or banking information. I told them I preferred check, however, they still wanted to know what bank I used to ensure it "tallies with the company's official salary payment account"?? Very odd to me. Then I was supposed to meet with someone via Skype at 8a.m. EST. I joined the chat with Christopher Mathews (live:.cid.dbeaa53c7a6e09ad) and he immediately started talking about sending out my check. Rebecca Woods and Christopher Mathews both told me I would receive a check and I would then use those funds to purchase my equipment from the company's local vendor. Rebecca told me that training pay was $16 per hour and then after training would be $27 per hour. The pay seemed way too good to be true. Then when I was talking with Christopher, he sent me paperwork that stated the training pay is $18 per hour and after training would be $28 per hour. I started questioning him about these things and ultimately, he stopped responding. I also found a person on Tik Tok stating that this same scam happened to them as well.

Was asked to do a text message interview and agreed then asked to download a telegram text app. It all seemed legit. Went through the interview and agreed to meet with a trainee the next day on Skype. It was Skype text, not camera. Agreed to employment and then sent over my name, address, email and phone number and also a Pic of my driver's license. They sent a check via email to purchase equipment and instructed me to take a photo and to upload it to my checking account and to inform them when this was done. My bank put a hold on the check for 24 hours. It seemed to be too good to be true so I did some digging and the website etc seems legit however I can not get a response back from them now and am supposed to meet with my supervisor again tomorrow morning to set up the purchase of the equipment. I am afraid they have all my info now except ss# and my ID. And the bank I use. I will contact my bank tomorrow to report the fraud and see how to stop the transfer or check if I can. Google searches showed the company to be legit but I believe it's name may be being used to scam people.
