I had ordered a book from MacKiev Family Tree Maker "Little Book of Answers" in January of this year and had not received it or was given a time when it should come. In the email acknowledging my purchase, There was a note that if I had questions about this purchase I should go to a website "support.familytreemaker.com" and enter "live chat". I decided to check up on this order and entered the "live chat" at that website. I was chatting with "lisa" there and asked when the book should arrive. She asked what version of FTM software I was using and then stated that the book purchased was for 2019 and was discontinued. She then transferred me to a technician who said I needed to update FTM software to 2024 version and the book would be for the latest version 2024. He had me download and install a program called Any Desk at which time he could see what version of FTM I was using. Unbeknown to me he removed files on my pc in my documents folder related to FTM stored data and other unrelated files. He said I needed to update FTM to 2024 version because 2019 version was discontinued and will not work anymore. The cost of FTM 2024 was now a yearly subscription and at a very high cost. I then realized that this was not the company MacKiev but something else. I removed Any Desk from my computer but then realized files had been removed from my PC without my knowledge or consent. I tried to do the "live chat" but now to not have access to it anymore. This company is a SCAM. Beware!
