I was sent an email to become a mystery shopper at my local brand grocery store KROGER. I foolishly signed up. I then received a text saying I would be receiving my first assignment via priority mail. Sure enough it arrived and I was instructed to deposit the enclosed $2,800 check then go to walmart and buy gift cards etc. I saw red flags right away and googled survey scams. I will tear up check and wash my hands of this scam

I received a letter and cashiers check in a US priority mail envelope. The letter gives you instructions to cash or deposits the enclosed check. Keep $350 for myself, purchase $50 worth of items and keep it for my self and then buy 6 gift cards from 2 different Walmarts. All along the process, they want you to text your progress to this number 585-714-2921. Days before this i receive an email asking me if I had received the Priority mail. Like a dummy i deposited the check in my account, but my bank put an hold on it, till it went through. It didn't go through, also what I didn't notice is that my name was misspelled. I am so happy my bank caught it.

Scammer sent email for opportunity as a secret shopper. I replied to email and then received a package from the USPS with instructions and a check for $2800. I was to go to Walmart and purchase 6 gift cards totaling $2400, other items for $50 and keep $350 as compensation. I was to then take a picture of the receipt and gift cards and text them to 585-714-2021 or email to [email protected]

Received a Priority Mail 2- Day Envelope with tracking etc., inside it was a letter about a survey job to be done at 2 Wal-Mart Stores (see attached), and a cashier's check written from Comerica Bank, for $2,800.00. I called the bank regarding the check, they said the routing # was theirs but the Check # is bad, if it was good they would be able to pull information up on it because it was dated for 7/1/2019, She said it is a fraudulent check! If I would have deposited this check I would have been responsible for paying back the $2,800.00. Seems they are trying to steal your idenity/bank information because in the letter it says to immediately or make a next day deposit at your bank.

I initially received 2 text messages from 812-374-8148 indicating my start-up payment package had been sent to me via priority mail. I did receive a priority mail envelope with a return address in Belleville, MI. Inside was a cashier's check from Comerica Bank for $2800 along with instructions to go to different Walmart stores and purchase $1200 worth of gift cards at each store. After reading about this type of scam online I did nothing further. I do plan to inform the post office also since this is mail fraud and a federal offense.

Both My son and I have received the same survey scam. The letter and cashiers check are mailed to you in a US priority mail envelope. The letter gives you instructions to cash or deposits the enclosed check. Keep $350 for your self, purchase $50 worth of items and then buy 6 gift cards from Walmart or Krogers. All along the process, they want you to text your progress to this number 585-714-2921. I have attached the letter and the cashiers check for your review.

I do not know where these people got my name and information, but they sent me a check and then started texting me about it asking if I have received and cashed the check. They also sent me information through email on what I was supposed to do with the check. I was supposed to cash or deposit the check and then go to Wal-Mart and buy $1700 in Apple iTunes gift cards. I could keep the other $280 for myself.
