Type of a scam Online Purchase
I've purchased from Swanson Vitamins many times. I have discovered that they try to cheat consumers in two ways:
1) They send out an email saying they are offering 35% or 40% off their usual prices. They say to click the email to begin shopping. This directs you to their website where it shows the same discount you will be receiving. I do my shopping and then go to pay. At the very last second before confirming the purchase, Swanson's website takes away the discount and either offers no discount or 15% off. In the past when I was tricked and pressed purchase at the much higher price, I called Swanson. They tried to blame my computer for "refreshing" without the discount. After speaking with a manager, they sent me a store credit for $50 to cover their deception.
2) Now that I'm privy to their deception, I'm extremely careful when placing orders. The last order I placed I confirmed I had the discount still for 40% off. I pressed purchase. I was truly stunned to see days later in the email they sent me that they changed the prices to much higher proces for many of the items I purchased AFTER I PLACED THE ORDER. I really could not believe this. I was irate and called them. I spoke to a person in the Philippines, and she immediately said she'd refund me the difference.
I'm sure Swanson plays these bait and switch games with many if not all of their customers. It is truly deceptive, disingenuous, and truly disgusting behavior.
I hope the Better Business Bureau can stop Swanson Vitamins from taking advantage of and preying upon their own customers like this.
Best regards,
Robert
