I applied to work remotely as an intern through Chegg. I looked into the person that I was in contact with and it is likely that they used a real business’s site as a front. They first messaged me through text and proceeded to email me and told me to download a messaging app called Wire. After going through a text interview they “hired” me on the spot. They then asked me to print out a check on a piece of paper that they emailed me and to cash it in through my bank app. After this they proceeded to ask me to send the money to someone to bring materials to me. I stopped after they proceeded to ask me to do this. One of the red flags was the way that they worded things.
