Type of a scam Employment

I received two text messages from an individual named "John from Symphysis Medical" from two different numbers. He stated in the text my resume was reviewed online. I received the initial text messages on Friday and received another text on the following Tuesday. He provided a link to Telegram to connect with a supervisor Nicole Johnson. She sent a series of questions via Telegram as a form of interview. I did not think anything of it because I have been applying for a second job religiously over the last two weeks. I accepted and completed the onboarding documents on Saturday, following the Friday. While corresponding with a "Trevor Tuff" via email Nicole Johnson was sending messages via Telegram. The group have sent me a check for "equipment" to preform my job duties as a data entry representative. I am not depositing this check in my account with little to no information about the details of this position. I asked several questions about the type of equipment. Additionally, Nicole has thrown out several things and have yet to check. A background check was to be completed using ID me; however I have not received the link. I hope this helps someone seeking employment in the future. Lesson learned.
