The owner of this tree service knocked on my door on April 16, 2021. He asked "Did I have limbs that needed to be trimmed?". I said that I think I have one oak that is dead. He first quoted me a price of $1,500.00 to cut it. I realized that tree, no larger than it was, the price was very high. I based my decision on past tree work. Another tree on the front of my property had been trimmed many times, and I thought it would eventually die. He quoted me a price of $1,000.00 to cut both trees and trim lower limbs on others. He only cut one limb. He wanted to take down another tree and I refused although he had not given me a price for this tree. Without my consent he notched another oak that may eventually die. They started out with a $4,500.00 charge for the two trees, and one limb. Finally, handed me a bill for $3,200.00 and when I went next door to help resolve the problem, the final amount was $2,500.00. This was a scam targeting the elderly. This needs to be stopped. They left a wheel barrow full of debris on my front yard. My check was cashed as soon as they could get to a bank that day.
