On 1/27/2024 around noon, two Caucasian males in a Silver truck with Virginia license plates drove up our driveway with an asphalt container on the truck bed. They were wearing reflective roadwork vests and appeared to have all asphalt paving equipment on hand. They claimed to have been leaving asphalt nearby and had extra, wiling to replace the driveway for $6,000. I asked their preferred method of payment and they said cash. They started working and I got the cash for them. They then claimed they would need an extra $7,000 if I wanted the parts of the driveway with holes to be leveled with gravel, which I accepted. They stated they would be back 1/29/2024 to finish the work once they had the proper materials and equipment for the gravel. They came by 1/29/2024 around 8:35 and I paid them the $7,000. Later that day around noon, one of the men, named Simon, called to inform they were having issues with the machine and would have to come back on 1/30/2025 to complete the job. When I returned home, I saw they had in fact done more work than they had on Saturday but it was very shoddy and incomplete. On 1/30/2024 around 8:00 AM I called the number for Simon, 661-593-8982, and he answered. I asked what time they would come back and questioned their workmanship. He replied they’d be there in an hour and to not worry that they would complete the job and all they had promised would be fulfilled. Upon returning home that same day, it was still incomplete. I tried calling the aforementioned number, went straight to voicemail. I looked up the same website I had looked up previous, it had been deactivated sometime on 1/30/2024. I called their supposed office phone, 213-459-5417, and the line continuously rang. We looked up their business name online and on social media and it was no where to be found. I have reported them as fraud on the federal governments website, report number 169094294, and filed a police report, 24-13259.
