A while back I was sent an email that offered an opportunity to mystery shop. I signed up with my name, address, and email. Later on, I received a priority mail letter that instructed me to visit Walmart and purchase two gift cards. Then I was to go to the next store and purchase two additional gift cards. They sent me a check that I was to cash and then I would make the purchases. I was to text them once the transaction was complete. They requested a photo of the card number and the pin number. I was to then email them a full report of my experience at Walmart, they wanted to know if the store employees questioned me or if they needed extra confirmation for me to make my purchase. They also wanted me to time how long it took to make the purchases. The "Assignment Objective" says "Due to the Federal Reserve Global campaign on securities on mobile payments all federal malls & stores were advised to stop sale on some types of gift cards, but surprisingly we received some reports that certain malls/stores like Walmart are still selling banned gift cards which is against the stated policies. In response to these our Organization has been contracted independently to conduct detailed investigation on stores/malls so as to unveil instances where policies have been disobeyed as well as instances where customers have been denied the privilege of getting Gift Cards."

I found an ad on Facebook for a Wal-Mart Secret Shopper type of position. I checked into it and thought it was legit. At the time, it actually gave a real secret shopper company name. Then I proceeded to get e-mails once or twice a week telling me that this envelope was coming with a check and instructions. I waited for about 2 weeks and nothing showed up so I forgot all about it. Until today, I got the envelope today with its contents. The letter looks so unprofessional and generic!
