Type of a scam Online Purchase
Like all of these online Puppy scams, the "seller" posted photos of mini teacup Pomeranian's for what seemed like an amazing deal - $500 + $150 for shipping. I emailed them and they replied and asked all sorts of "concerning" questions about what sort of home their pup would go to. They even added a photo of an elderly white woman holding a dog as their Google email photo image (smart crooks!). This is their website, though I am sure they have many: https://teacuppomeraniandogs.com/
I then asked for additional photos of the puppy and the parents and they immediately sent both. They looked totally legit. All the same location, and handler's hands, etc...
Then they asked for my address to ship the dog and the nearest airport. They didn't push the money yet. But then they sent info on the payment: an email address from "Zelle" - a way to send money (?), and it was a different name (Amanda Thomkins) then "Laura" the woman who I was apparently talking to. I got suspicious as there was no further instructions at all, and a few suspicious grammatical errors.
I think asked for a phone number to verify that this sale was legit. I called and got a generic voicemail, hung up but they called me right back. There was a man on the line with a very thick French African accent and said "Laura" his grandmother (from Arlington, VA no less) had hearing loss and could not come to the phone and that he was her son. I heard him talking in another language before he heard I was on the call. I said just put Laura on the phone to say HI, she doesn't have to talk or hear. He would not. It was clearly a scam. Thank G-d I did not send money.
I can't even imagine how many people these jerks scam daily. They have a smart set-up with the Google email photo and website and photos of even the parents of the pup (which I requested). They must be stopped.
Thanks!
