My brother sent me $20 via Cashapp which did not appear. I googled Cashapp to locate a phone number to speak to a live rep versus doing a chat. The site that populated for Cash App issues was the site mentioned. I got a person named James and I was sent through numerous steps in which I was told was necessary for me to get the money. I was told to download an app called Any Desk so they could remote into my Cash App. Once there they reviewed my account and advised someone else would need to send me a random amount to ensure the money would connect. He told me to select a user and type in $320 as a request in which I did. He then said I would need to create a "dummy account". I was told to go to the Bitcoin option in Cashapp to then send the money to that "dummy account" to ensure all transactions are proper and he said that the $320 wouldn't actually go through. It did but he told me to wait for a moment and it should appear opposite of a transaction and to call back if it didn't. I called back and questioned where the money was and I got the run around about it. I called back and spoke to a Joy and Peter a day later demanding a return and refund in which they tried to take me through the same cycles again I initially went through. I declined to go through those steps and I told them I will report them and file a fraud case if they don't instantly return the funds. The line dropped and they called back from some odd number (628-270-8367) - they said they needed to ensure the call was recording and that the billing team would be listening. They assured me continuously they are part of Cash App. They told me I'd get the money back within 4 hours and I was given a confirmation #: of ******** via text from 443-4837400, however it did not return. I also requested the $320 from the dummy account which there's been no response. I called them back again just to check on the refund one last time. I got James and when I explained to him what he did he hung up. I called back and got another Peter. I wanted to see what would happen since this was a "new" person. He began by telling me there was a note on the account that I requested money go to Bitcoin which I immediately told him was a lie and that they stole the money. He said they needed to access my account again (they have you scroll up and down your Cash App account from the Activity icon to the Personal icon and Bitcoin). He told me to select a person close to me and type in the numbers 101 as a request. I asked why those numbers as a dollar amount and he said it's the first 3 numbers of some supposed access number (which was obviously a lie but I continued to see what other antic he'd have). I used my relatives account that was sitting with me while those people were watching my account (they also wanted to view on camera the relatives activity as he was sending it). My relative has no money connected to his bank account that's connected to Cash App so we knew ourselves it wouldn't go through - we just wanted to see what these people would try to do and to see if at all possible I was really getting a refund. When the payment was denied by the bank they told me I have to use someone with money available. When I questioned why someone else needs to send me money in order for THEM to return my initial money there was nothing but a ramble of words. It's all a scam. They are crafty and they steal. They use you to get money from others to then have you apply it to dummy accounts while under the impression you believe this is a Cash App IT team assisting with real issues. I have filled a case with Cash App but I've not yet been successful in getting this resolved. Please assist in getting these people stopped.
