On Oct.5, 2015 i was using my Apple computer to research Ohio State Parks and i got a warning screen which said i was being hacked. it advised me not to turn off the computer or exit Safari on my MAC or the situation would be worse. all logos and icons looked exactly like my Apple icons/logos. it advised me to call an Apple Tech for solution and provided the number 1-855---------. i called and talked to an Asian Indian who said he was "Tom". after talking to him for about 1/2 hr. he informed me that some one had introduced malware into my computer and that it would cost $137. dollars to remove since my Apple Tech Services had lapsed. i could not understand him very well , so i hung up my phone. the computer continued to flash a warning so i called the number again. this time i was talking to "Ben", who sounded like an Asian Indian also. he told me he was an authorized Apple Tech. and that he needed to take over my computer to find out who was introducing the malware. i complied and he went onto a geek typer website, which he used to show me that a russian named Nickolai Ondrejko had successfully attached malware to my MAC. this website also had a picture of this man and said he was wanted by Interpol. i got extremely nervous at this point. i again asked who he was and he told me his company was Tech Matrix Solutions and that they did tech service for Apple. he said his company was accredited by the ScamPulse.com of New York. he showed me a screen, since he now had control of my computer and i saw the name Manish Paswan listed as tech, i asked if this was he and he said no, Manish was another Apple Tech. he said it would cost $199. to fix and i would have a 3 yr. quarantee. when i said i did not want this he offered a $99. 00 one time solution. at this point i was receiving a loud warning thru my computer screen. he intimated that the hacker was interested in my bank account, i do not do internet banking. he also said that this man may be using my webcam, i have my camera covered so this is not possible. he also mentioned that my Facebook might be affected, i do not use face book, nor does my husband. then he said the hacker was trying to get control of my Verizon MIFI. all this was scare tactics. when i balked at giving him my credit card information for payment he got a bit irate. i said i did not feel comfortable doing that. he was hard to understand so i was on the phone with these guys for approx. one hour. he said this Russian had introduced malware successfully 6 times since 9-29-15 and that my bank account could be hacked tomorrow. when i again balked at giving out my credit card info ( i was getting very suspicious now), he hung up. my computer then was usable as always but i was afraid that i had malware infiltration , so today 10-6-15 i contacted my local Apple store which put me in touch with a legitimate Apple Tech, who informed me that i had been scammed. i worked with this real Apple tech and discovered that no malware had ever been introduced, and that my system is fine. we ran all sorts of checks. i was shocked that all the MAC/Apple logos and language and icons were duplicated but he said he gets a couple of these cases each week. never the less, i changed my passwords and phoned my bank, credit card and Verizon. i also filed a complaint with the FTC, because of my Social Security/Medicare accounts. these people represented themselves as Apple Techs and lied repeatedly . luckily, i did not make any money available to them.
