- I granted them the remote access with LogMeInRescue to my laptop to allow them to diagnose the issue.
- They ran a quick diagnostic and told me what needed to be repaired and said the service would cost CAD$109.99 and that I would need purchase a voucher from "recharge.com" to complete the transaction.
- I paid for the voucher online and got the email confirmation for the purchase and expected to give the code, but they didn't want it at that time and when I wanted to save the chat conversation they interfered with my actions while they were still remotely connected to my computer
- so at that point I got really skeptical and closed off all communications at that point and turned off my laptop.
- I did not give verbally give them any code for the purchase but they probably watched me enter my credit card details online for the voucher purchase.
- I'm concerned that they might have installed something on my laptop or obtained other personal information for the purpose of identity theft.
