Received call from Mike Davis, claiming he was with Xfinity's Security Dept, telling us our network router was compromised, that he restored the settings but that per FTC regulations, they needed to install a firewall device costing $500.00. Directed my husband to purchase gift card and to call him back. We called back the number and initially reached a VM, stating that we had reached Comcast's Security Dept. Told us xfinity would be monitoring our network for the next 3 days and to expect a technician the following Tuesday. Sent 3 official looking emails to my husband though on further inspection it was obvious this was a scam (verbiage, grammatical errors and misspellings), also not the official logo and email. This guy was able to log in to our router and change the password but he did noting to our network. Realizing the scam we went to the xfinity store, purchased a new router, changed all passwords. The following Tuesday the guy called us from a spoofed xfinity number. We had reported him to comcast and were expecting a call from them, but when we realized it was him, we hung up. He tried 3 more times to reach us and we ignored his calls. Ran scans to ensure he did not install keyloggers or other malware. Also, reported this and made a claim to comcast.

Googled Xfinity to be directed to the phone number in question. The operator named Mike knew all my Xfinity bill information including my service address.

I was told a 3rd party company called pay easy tech processed payments for Xfinity. Upon going to the xfinity store a week later I am informed my bill was never paid and that number and person are not affiliated with Comcast or xfinity. I called the number back in an effort for an explanation and was told I can receive a refund in four months or report them to the ScamPulse.com and my bank which I did. The person did not mention any attempt to pay my Xfinity bill or resolve the issue which lead me to the confirmation they are a scam. I was told they are located in San Diego California allegedly Comcast and mikes manager is named Tie.

Shortly after the fraudulent payment was taken I experienced further debit card issues including unauthorized transactions on mine and my sons cards leading to cancelations issuing new ones.

These people claimed to be xfinity, I gave my name and address information due to me having cable issues. They said they that they couldn’t fix the issue on their end, but the cable isn’t in my name yet they knew my name, after they didn’t get any information about my cable and box, they told me they need to send a technician out to fix the problem and it’s $200.00. When I told them that didn’t make any sense, they started to rush me off the phone and said by using my name and hung up.

The scammer offered to replace my internet modem with an updated one, requested I pay my account before the modem could be ordered and requested the entire number, expiration date, etc of the payment card I had on file. She then set up a date for a tech from Xfinity to install the modem which was done, but Xfinity said they never received my payment.
