I had what I thought was a virus, showing a blue face with red letters and a loud noise. There was a telephone number to call on the alert, I called the number and I thought it was Windows but it turned out to be Shield Apps LLC. They told me they could fix my computer and asked some questions but I don't remember how they accessed it. They said they were going to fix my firewall. They did something, and the virus alert went away. They asked me to send $499 to them. They first asked through my credit card number but I didn't give them that. They gave me an address to send a check to instead since. Now they keep calling wanting the money.
