At this point they didn't identify themselves and I thought I was dealing with Microsoft. Who else might be getting messages concerning my computer.
They proceeded to go in and find all kinds of problems. In retrospect I don't believe it was my computer screen that I being shown.
Without any further explanation they began working on the machine.
Since I assumed this was Microsoft and money wasn't discussed I thought the work was free.
After extended work on the machine including taking solo control of the machine it was said to be fixed.
Now for the first time did they identify themselves as techpeninsula.
I was presentedveithvformsvtovfillnout including a contract and bank information. Interesting is they didn't want my credi cards calling them compromised but they wanted a check.
It should add that besides this work ( I really don't know what was done, possibly installation of mal ware) they recommend variou blockers all of ehich were expensive and I'm not sure they exist like a child porn blocker and a dark web blocker also a new firewall was put in.
The bill came in just under $3000.
I should add that the computer was working fine when I was contacted.
Also there was some rush initially to get the check. They were goingvtobhavevit picked up by Fedex the next day.
The only thing that saved me was I was to tired to download and print a barcode. Without this Fedex wouldn't take the envelope.
When I realized what had happened and multiple people, as soon as I told them the story said I was scammed I still had the payment check. It has since been destroyed.
Machine has sine been worked on by a computer expert and everything added to machine was remove and it was testes for malware after.
