I received a remote job offer through the Mom project, I got interviewed on May 10 through via Skype chat, at first, everything was normal , Mohit Patidar the Head Recruitment manager from techvalens conducted the job interview just like a normal job, it all started when I asked about the equipment for the job. I asked, how would I receive the equipment? He said I would have to purchase the equipment and I would receive 100% reimbursement , at this point it still sounded OK. But when he provided the vendor information that’s when it started looking sketchy. The vendor turned out to be a random person in PayPal (Christine Gilbert). No business name, no other information. Then Mohit Patidar ask me to purchase a computer through (PayPal transfer between friends or family) "PayPal Buyer Protection does not cover money transfers between friends or family. If someone selling you goods or a service asks you to send a friends and family payment, you should refuse.

This company is in India. Nothing in United States, no office no building nothing at all.

When I contact the Mom project to report the job, they said: Thanks for that info! We've actually closed the job opening with TechValens as they were engaging with talent without accordance to our terms of service. Should you receive any emails or text messages from them moving forward, please do not respond!

Lesson learned no legit job is going to ask you to purchase equipment to start your job, especially with a vendor that has no business name, website or other information.
