Type of a scam Online Purchase
After I placed my order, I was sent an email from "[email protected]" stating: "Thanks for choosing Terry's Florist. Unfortunately, we were not able to get our supply of flowers from the wholesalers yet. We will be substituting the red roses to red carnations. Please let us know if you agree. Thank you and keep safe."
I replied with the following: The red carnations will be fine. However, since carnations are less in price then roses, how will/does this affect the already payed for purchase price?
The reply from "[email protected]" stated: "The florists will use the red carnations to fill the "value" of the red roses. Thank you"
However, I received a "non-premium" bouquet of 6 carnations.
I sent the following to "[email protected]":
You stated you "will be substituting the red roses to red carnations" and "the florists will use the red carnations to fill the "value" of the red roses". However, your website shows the "Deluxe Rose Bouquet in a Pitcher" with eight (8) roses. I ordered the "Premium" bouquet. And yet, I still only received 6 red carnations. So I ask, what is the difference between the "Deluxe" and "Premium" bouquet? Also, since carnations are less in price then roses, and I received less flowers than advertised, why am I being charged the same price as the original red rose bouquet? Not sure I understand this ordeal, please explain.
Terry`s Florist responded with: "We apologize for the inconvenience. Please attach a copy of the picture of the flower arrangement that you've received and we would be happy to assist you. Thank you and have a great day."
After sending them a picture of what I received, they responded with the following: "I am in receipt of your email and have reviewed the picture that has been sent. I do see that your order was filled to value based on our substitution policy. Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, flower supply from our vendors is sometimes very limited or delayed which is why we have this policy in place. I have attached a copy of our terms and conditions which notes said policy and it is also posted on our website for your personal reference. Thank you for your understanding."
I contacted the local florist (Bev`s Floral & Gifts in Stevens Point, WI), who arranged the bouquet, and they stated they "actually had roses in stock but were told by Terry`s Florist to send carnations instead. Even after the local florist questioned the order and said they had roses in stock, Terry`s Florist insisted they send carnations.
Unfortunately, I researched this site AFTER my purchase. There are a great number of complaints of fraudulent activity from this company. It needs to be shutdown.
