This email is to notify you of your right as a current or former cardholder of one or more accounts issued by The Bancorp Bank (“Bank”), to file a transaction dispute claim.
On December 23, 2015, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) announced a settlement with the Bank involving certain prepaid card programs issued by the Bank.
The settlement gives cardholders who were discouraged from filing transaction dispute claims between November 16, 2012 and December 23, 2015 (“Error Resolution Period”) a new opportunity to file claims. To help you identify transactions and determine your prepaid card number(s), the Bank will provide at no cost, upon your request, a transaction summary for the Error Resolution Period that contains this important information. See below for details.
Who is included?
As a current or former cardholder, you are included. Even if the Card Account is now closed or inactive, if you decided not to file transaction dispute claims because of an added or burdensome requirement, you now have the right to file those claims.
How to request a transaction summary
To request a free transaction summary, call the dedicated Customer Care line, 866.415.2503 (toll-free, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT, 7 days a week). When you call, you will speak with a representative and be asked to provide this information:
• Cardholder name, current mailing address and telephone number
• Cardholder date of birth
• Cardholder Social Security number
The summary can be sent by email or by U.S. Postal Service mail. Allow 3-5 business days for email delivery or 7-10 business days for mail delivery.
How to file a claim
There is ONLY one way to file a transaction dispute claim: call the dedicated Customer Care line, 866.415.2503 (toll-free, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. CT, 7 days a week). You must file your claim(s) no later than 120 days from the date of this email. When you call, you will speak with a representative and will be asked to provide this information:
• Cardholder name, current mailing address and telephone number
• Cardholder date of birth
• Cardholder Social Security number
• Prepaid card number (the 16-digit card number appears on your card, online account history, or the transaction summary, which we will provide at no cost)
• What the cardholder was told or asked to do that resulted in the cardholder not filing the claim
• Claim details: merchant, transaction amount, disputed amount, and transaction date (The transaction must have occurred during the Error Resolution Period.)
