I received a Notice of Account Closing regarding a VCPay Prepaid MasterCard issued by The Bancorp Bank on behalf of Net1 Virtual Credit Card, Inc. Although I don't remember having this card, I called to find out what their records showed. I was asked to give my mobile phone number which didn't seem to match their records so I gave my home number and they quickly seemed to find my records. When they asked for my birth date and the last four numbers of my SSN, I gave them, and they readily told me of a remaining balance of $353.15. The letter had stated that at my request, they would send me the balance (minus a $15.00 fee), so that is what I requested and I asked when I should expect to receive the check. After maybe a 15 minute wait on hold, he returned to the line to let me know that I would need to FAX a copy of my government ID, a copy of my Social Security Card, and proof of address. I refused, stating that they already had all the proof of identification that they would need and that I would report the incident to the BBB.
