There is a company on Thumbtack by the name of the boss window and gutter cleaning. Jose Alvarez approached me after I had put up my job description for cleaning off the windows, sunroom, French windows and skylights. He called me and wanted to come to my property to give me an estimate and he also told me how he has great reviews and has done so much work in the area. He also told me he has great promotional rates going on. He came to my property with one of his fellow partners and he gave me an estimate of about 6 to 7 dollars per window and including all the windows and the sunroom and skylights the estimate came to be somewhere $315. He said if I used any check Venmo or electronic payment then I’ll be charged 6% tax. We set up a date for him to come to my home and do the windows he came up and he also asked me if I would like to get the cleaning done for dollar 180 for the house, he also showed interest in power washing for the area near my lawn at a good price of close to hundred dollars. However, when he got upon his ladder to show me a demonstration for the Gutter, as I had told him our gutters have a covering on the top, I realize that he was being very argumentative, even though we could see a leak clearly. He had initially told me that the price for the gutter cleaning would also include fixing the leaks if he found any. Now that he saw two or three leaks, he started quitting on me and told me that fixing one leak would cost additional dollar 50. I realize that this guy was not professional, so I decided not to give him the gutter cleaning work and the power washing work and I told him to just stick with the windows as we had decided before. For a three-story home with more than 20 windows and a sunroom and skylights, he barely worked for an hour and a half, only one man was working while the other guy was just trying to hold supplies or the ladder. I wondered how he finished so fast so when I got to work, I saw all the screens of the windows were dirty. There were cobwebs around the windowsills, the windows had not been done properly in fact, almost half of the windows Were not even touched and they were still dirty. The sunroom was not done. The skylights were not done and he was just arguing with me. This is what it is and that he will not complete the job. He had completely turned back from the initially proposed scope of work and he started demanding for $315. This was an estimate for the entire scope of work however he had not even completed his work and done a very superficial and job, but he still wanted the whole money. I told him this was not possible before I could give him the money or he can get barely 100 something For the work he has done. He get arguing and portraying as if he had done all the work. He completely denied all the pictures I showed him. He did not want to take the tour of the property and in complete work that I showed him. He was just scuffing off in a delusional way that it looked clean Later on he called the cops. He did not leave my property but rather call cops and try to create a scene in front of all my neighbors telling the cops that he had not been paid for his work. I had to call cops after seeing this and when the office came, I showed him the state of all the windows I even took pictures and the entire recording of the house for my records, and I even told the police that he has disrespected me so much if he apologizes for all his rude and ugly behavior and maybe I can give him some amount of money but since he’s been so disrespectful, and he has been trying to scam me, I would not entertain this guy anymore, and that he can leave or go to the court with all his data Recordings from the security cameras of the house that saw him not completing his work properly, and I have the pictures that I took in front of the police of the whole house showing how dirty my windows are and how they have not been cleaned at all. Please beware of scammers and such aggressive small time Workers hunting clients on websites like (thumbtack) and aggressively follow them and later on create huge drama and force them to pay for work that they have not even done
