I made an appointment for The Duct Xpert to come to my home and perform duct cleaning services. When I called to make the appointment, I spoke to Alex - the manager. He gave me a quote of $19/vent + $99 to clean the dryer vent. They were supposed to arrive between 10 am and 1 pm today. The technician arrived at 2 pm (late). Upon entry to the home, he told me that due to the registers for the AC vents being on the ceilings, it would cost $29/vent instead of $19/vent. No one had inquired about this when I made the initial appointment and no one had informed me there was a difference in price. They then told me that they would have to reschedule because they did not have the right equipment with them and that their office would call me to reschedule.
That is when I had the displeasure of dealing with Alex. When I called to reschedule, Alex was incredibly rude. He first refused to schedule the appointment. Then he said the price I had been quoted of $29/vent was wrong and that it would be $49/vent because I didn't tell them the vents were on the ceiling (they never inquired about this in the first place). I had the foresight to have the technician give me a contract with the $29/vent quote written on it. With that in hand, I informed Alex that I had the contract provided by his technician. Alex then proceeded to make racist comments to me and repeated used explicit words. He became enraged and impossible to talk to. Obviously since I still needed the service completed, I tried to remain as composed as possible (despite being very upset). He called me a liar; said I made up the quote on the contract. I suggested he call his technician to confirm the conversation we had. He continued to use expletives. Finally, he told me "do whatever you want, go give business to someone else. I don't care." And hung up. I called back the technician and he told him what had happened. He was disturbed, but not surprised. He said "Alex tends to get upset when it's close to the Sabbath".
I am an educated professional, but also a human being. I am not an [censored]. I do not need to be talked down to in any situation. Alex is an a**hole. Do not give this man service, no matter what he chooses to call his company. Boycott this man and his lack of human decency.

They took my money through my debit card. Please do something to get these people out of business.
Once "inspected" the chimney, I was told it was unsafe to use
and the $129 special only cleaned about six feet up. What?
The chimney does not stop at 6 feet.
Was then sold a "deep cleaning" for $449 and a "chemical treatment" for $249.
Then they tried to collect 10% sales tax on top of that.
After thinking about the "service" received and looking into them more, more
red flags came up. The invoice is non-descriptive with no physical business address and the credit card charge comes back as "1VKZ6 WA LOCKSMITH."

I hired them over the phone for promotion suppose they were running for $99 for Sweep and inspection!
Alex came and gave me the list of what I need $199 for Chimney, inspection and damper. $450 for crown repair, and $400 for a new cap ... when I asked why it is $199 vs $99 he said my fireplace chimney is out of shape and needs alot of work. I never worked with fireplace so I asked to go ahead clean and order my cap. 3 weeks later he came back and install a cap that barely cover my chimney and 2 size small. I called him and he said that I paid for basic and custom cap cost $1400.. and start yelling and being very rude. If I had done my work and research them in advance before hired them, I wouldn't had to waste $1136, small Chimeny cap and rudeness!
They have bogus google reviews. I posted a review and it never appeared and there is no way for reviewing from google search.
A Total fraud website. All it is a front for questionable chimney sweep companies in different local areas. My local website is: thechimneyxpert.com/chim….
I tried to contact the website for my money back guarentee but they never responded.
Here is my story...
The Technician was from Seattle Air Superior or Air Xpert (the check was written to Seattle Air Superior and receipt had Air Xpert on it) to clean and inspect my chimney for $199.
The Technician had bad hygiene and tried to upsell me.
No booties on his dirty boots as he walked on my white and light gray rug to my fireplace.
Mask below his nose for most of the time he was in my house. (We are in a COVID pandemic right now)
After a quick look at my chimney he wrote up an estimate of $700 to $850 to clean, inspect and repair my chimney. Original phone quote was $199. I told him I will need more estimates before I move forward with this job. He kept giving me excuses why the price went up $500. I kept telling him I need more estimates. At one point I had to ask him to step away from me because he kept coming too close to me, with his mask below his nose, as he tried to upsell me on his services and show me videos of my chimney on his phone.
The website I used to contact this company (thechimneyxpert.com) offers free estimates and money back guarantee. He made me pay $29.00 for that free estimate he called it a "Service Call". He kept trying to upsell me to a point where I had to tell him "Get the **** out of my house." I'm sorry, but if I have to ask a salesman to leave my house, I will use any language I want to get them out of my house!
I contacted his supervisor the next day for 2 reasons:
1 To make sure what company the Technician worked for (Not clear on the receipt)
2. To tell him about my experience with his Technician.
The Supervisor was aggressive from the start. He asked me why I was so hostile toward his Technician. As I was trying to explain the lack of booties, improper wearing of mask, upsell attempts and not leaving my house when I gave him the check and saying "Thanks for nothing!", the supervisor started talking over me and would not let me talk. I hung up the phone. He called back and asked why I hung up the phone. I told him he would not let me talk... He let me talk for a bit then he asked me when was the last time my chimney was cleaned, 5 years I answered. He started talking over me again lecturing me that I need to get my chimney cleaned more often in the Seattle area. I tried to get a word in and he did not stop talking so I hung up... again. Then blocked his number.
Not only did I have a bad experience with the Technician, I had a bad experience with his Supervisor over the phone.
Mr. Supervisor and Mr. Technician... I hope you enjoy the $29.00 and I hope people will see this review and choose to send their business elsewhere. There are plenty of good companies out there. I just got this work done (chimney sweep and firebox crack repair) for $249.00 from another company I got off of AngiesList. This chimney sweep said my fireplace had a very light coat of creosote and was a quick and easy clean. Not the level 3 clean Seattle Air Superior tried to sell me.

Well I got a call from a confused wife by asking what was suppose to happen, I said a chimney sweep, clean out the downstairs fireplace and flue. She said he shop vac the fireplace be wanted to do the vent to the roof, but that was another $100, making the total job $199. When I asked what it was for, she handed the phone to the tech, he said "You're vent hasn't been cleaned for 7 years, I'll do them both for $199." I assumed he meant the wood burning insert, and I said sure, that's fine. Because of Covid-19, my wife didn't feel comfortable being in the room with him, but said he was done in 30mins and it was time to pay. Insisted that she should tip, which she did $40 and then called me a bit frantic and said, "I'm not sure what he did?"
I got home to find that he vacuumed the fireplace and as I looked up, there was soot and creosote everywhere still. I asked my wife if he went up on the roof at all and she said no. I asked how he cleaned the wood burning insert vent, but she said he didn't. No I was confused. I got up on the roof and inspected the flue, there was soot all along the tile connections and no evidence of a brush even going up the flue. I dropped a small broom down the shaft and when I checked at the bottom of the fireplace and soot and creosote was all over the fireplace.
My wife called the company and Alex just talked down to her and said she didn't know what she was talking about, and she was making up stories. He asked her repeatedly if she was a chimney sweeper? and when she replied no, he said, then I don't need to hear this, if she had a problem, call her credit card company.
I wrote an email to him with the pictures I will share below and asked to call me the next morning. I got no response. I called the company and asked for Alex. He answered, I asked if he got my email and he said he did. I asked why he hasn't called me yet, he replied, I talked to your wife last night, it was settled. Obviously my email stated it was not settled and I wanted our money back, he said he doesn't work for free.
We went back and forth and then he kept asking me if I was a chimney sweepers, then how would I know if a job is done or not. I said, pictures, proof that it's not cleaned. he said it looked fine. When I asked him why the extra $100 charge, he said everything had stages, clean one section certain amount, 2nd stage, another amount. We have a 22ft flue, shouldn't that be included? once again, are you a chimney sweeper? No, I'm a customer who is unsatisfied with a job your tech preformed, does that not mean anything to you? He accused me of just wanting free work done. We exchanged some more back and forth and it was apparent he didn't care about my satisfaction of the job. I told him I would report him to the ScamPulse.com and do every review out there, along with dispute the credit card charge. He didn't seem care.
