A door to door sales man came to my home , posing as a local college student selling magazines for a trip to London to intern with the BBC.

He was selling magazines.

I foolishly purchased 3 magazine subscriptions. I noticed after he left that I was overcharged for the magazines (the total charged was more than the actual total of the magazine prices listed on the receipt). There is no phone number for the company. The company website states that all sales people are independent contractors. I also feel that the prices for the magazines were way above market value. I was not shown the prices prior to purchasing (my bad for not asking more questions) The sales man did not write his name on the sales receipt. I have contacted the company on the website to request a refund. I have also mailed in the sales receipt , requesting a refund. In retrospect, redflags were everywhere with this experience .... I cannot believe I fell for this disreputable company

A young man knocked on our door, claiming to be a student raising money for a class trip to London. He said he lived with his mom (said a first name - do you know her? She lives just down the street). He wanted to go to college for broadcast journalism, and this trip was going to be very important for his chances of getting into the program at the school he wanted to go to.

Anyway, so he sold us an atlas for a total of $61. 4 months later, my wife stumbled across the check in our bank account transactions, and realized that it had been cashed immediately, but we still didn't have the atlas (which we really didn't want - we bought it to help the "kid" out). But, we ordered the atlas, so we might as well call and find out where it was.

Lo and behold, there was no contact number on the slip. Faintly, you can see "independent contractor name - Carlos Del Toro." There's no contact information, except the website www.experiencesales.com, and when you go to the site, there is no phone number, e-mail address, or physical address listed for the company.

Long story short, we likely are out the $61 and will not receive the promised goods. Also, the salesperson lied to us many times - lied that he was a student raising money, lied that he lived on our street, etc. These are very deceitful practices, and the company constantly changes PO Box addresses and phone numbers to avoid customer contact once they have been scammed.

A young man came to me in my yard and said he was taking donations for books for Cooks Childrens Hospital and he would get some credit for his soccer trip to Ireland. He said his mother lived in the area and would send out info on the books and the soccer trip. He also said one of my neighbors(used his name) bought 4 units at 61.00 per unit for a donation of 244.00. I had no cash but wrote a check for 1 unit at 61.00. After he left I called my neighbor only to find out he ran him off and gave him nothing. He then went around the neighborhood HOA found him and escorted him out. He came by and told me what happened and since it was on Sat.I was able to stop payment on my check. Since I have been a member of my bank for 52 years they did not charge me a stop payment fee. I received a carbon receipt with a lot of phony info in it.
