received emails claiming to be the U.S. Department of Education and that I have defaulted loans. The provided links and contact numbers. Attempting to contact via phone resulted in the collection of my SSN and DOB to find my account. An account was found and it took me through verifying my Address, Phone, and email. They had all that info on file. The balance was 6,798.48 and I had a past payment on March 18, 2020 in the amount of 6,458.21. I do not recall making that payment, but I do remember being contacted by this entity claiming to be the U.S. Department of Education in the past. When attempting the website, the front page loads, but looks somewhat poor in quality. The links following https://myeddebt.ed.gov/borrower/ and https://myeddebt.ed.gov/borrower/#/sendemail both load to a blank white page. After multiple attempts to contact and trying the website. I decided to contact Aidvantage in regards to this because all my loans should be consolidated there. After a short conversation about my experience and validation that my loan debts are in good standing and that the U.S. Department of Education should not be contacting me directly for any reason, I was told that this entity contacting me and claiming to be the U.S. Department of Education was a scam and that Aidvantage is a branch from the U.S. Department of Education and works directly with them for all my loan collections. So my next course of action should be to report the email as a scam and report this entity to the BBB.

Diana asked me for my email address, phone number, name, benefit ID number which is on the top of the letter. She asked me my time zone and said that they are out for the day (at 3:30p.m. on a Friday which is weird once I think about it). I told her my phone doesn't ring so to make a notation for them to leave a voicemail!

This company called FSA Federal Student Loan offers to help me to consolidate my students from navient.edu to the Federal Department of Education. She managed to get ALL my information (SSN, Date of birth, password, address, credit card information. She went to the Navient.edu website, modify all my information with the information she gathers from me, changes my password, deleted my credit card information that was on file, she created a new login on the FSA website. After having her on the phone for about an hour, she asked me to make my first payment right away, that is when I woke up and feel that something was not right. I just relinquish all my rights to this lady. I gave a card number that has 0 balance. The deal was that I will make 5 payments of 239 to them for five months, and then they will consolidate my loan with the Federal Dept of education and in the process, I will save $38,617. When I hang up on the phone, I went online and realize that it was a scam. Many people had the same issue. I closed all my credit card accounts, reset my navient account. Our phone 1-800-214-6079 ext 1004 or 714-475-1894 (Text Only).

I was texted by Todd Peterson from The Federal Student Aid Center. He said he wanted to help me with the Forgiveness Program before they expire next month. I asked him is it free and he said don't be looking for a hand out and hung up on me. So I texted him back and told him that I was going to report him to the BBB. He texted back and, said "*** YOU ***HOLE ALL YOU WANT IN LIFE IS FOR FREE YOU NEED TO LEARN TO WORK HARD FOR THINGS PEOPLE JUST DON'T GIVE AWAY FREE *** ***HOLE". So, texted back "Lol!" But I have all the text messages from him.

I see an offer on facebook regarding ITT Tech lawsuit pending and if you were affected to sign on to be part of the lawsuit. A man called me and told me that I am eligible to be part of the settlement which will discharge my entire loan. He also told me that there is a service fee of 847.00 to start the application of the discharge. Instead of paying I told him I needed to consult my wife, and instead I called federal student aid office to make sure if this was true. I found out that they did not have a service being given to students that did this. So I put the number on my block call and now informing others regarding this.

They have been calling for over a month, the man has an Indian accident and calls himself Ron Smith. He tells me I am qualified for all kinds of loan forgiveness. In my naiveté I provided them with private information because I really thought they could help me. Then after a huge discussion found out they could NOT lower my payments and told them I did not want to go through with the plan. They called me back the very same day asking why. I told them I was not interested and please stop calling. The next day I receuved an email that i had staryed but not completed my Fasfa. I DID NOT APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID!!! They have attempted calling me from various state phone numbers nearly every day since then but I cannot call them back. Each time after they call, I receive an email about a forgotten password. They are trying to use my information illegally.
