Allow me to formally introduce myself: I am William Becker, a 63-year-old widower, father of three, and grandfather of two, currently residing in Texas. Given my frequent travel and various commitments both domestically and internationally, having a capable Personal Assistant is essential for keeping track of my activities.
I am in search of a dependable, punctual, and trustworthy individual to oversee both my business and personal tasks. Upon reviewing your resume, I am impressed by your qualifications, which closely match the requirements for a Personal Assistant. The aim is for this to be a long-term or permanent position, subject to your performance during a 2-month probationary period. I am currently in Qatar but will be returning in two weeks to conduct a formal interview and handle necessary paperwork.
As someone involved in various boards of directors and charitable foundations, including the Paestum Foundation, I engage in philanthropic activities across four continents, employing over 150 individuals globally. Our mission is to provide funds and support for the maintenance, preservation, and display of our esteemed collection. We firmly believe in the power of art to inspire, educate, and connect individuals across generations and geographical boundaries. Presently, we are expanding our offices in the United States and Canada.
After reviewing your qualifications, I am eager to proceed with the next steps in the hiring process. Given the sensitive nature of this role, a brief background check will be conducted.
I am in need of a dedicated and reliable individual to assist with both professional and personal tasks, which include:
- Managing schedules, travel arrangements, and correspondence
- Creating and editing documents using Microsoft Office
- Facilitating charitable contributions
- Serving as the primary point of contact for phone calls
This remote position offers competitive benefits and allows for flexibility to maintain your current employment if desired. The compensation is $1390 per week, with bi-weekly pay.
As part of the hiring process, my HR team will conduct a brief background check before scheduling the initial interview. Please provide the following details for this purpose:
- Full Name
- Complete Address
- Mobile Number
- Current Occupation
- Attached form of ID (Driver's license or State ID)

So, I sent an email with my resume to that email address, to inquire about the job. He asked for my full name, full address, mobile number, and current occupation. Mr. Moore said that my job would consist of: “Running errands and shopping, Supervising and monitoring activities, Scheduling programs and flights, and maintaining my calendar, Acting as a primary point of contact in my absence, Making regular contacts and drop-offs on my behalf, and Handling and overseeing financial transactions” and he added that “The compensation for this position is $1390 per week, along with health insurance, a 401K plan, and paid time off, which we can discuss further during our meeting.” I searched up Garrett Moore, who is part of the board of directors for the Paestum Foundation in New York. The website for the Paestum Foundation in New York is: https://www.paestum-foundation.org/ That led me to believe that Mr. Moore was legitimate and could be trusted. Thus, I continued to correspond with him via email.
On Saturday, March 2nd at 8:52am, I received an email from Mr. Moore where he decided to switch me to a potential opportunity for me to assist with their payroll department. I found it odd that he suddenly switched up job positions on me but figured perhaps he found me to be a better fit for this role. So, I informed him that I do have a windows computer and reliable printer. He required me to purchase VersaCheck Secure Check paper from Amazon, and Checksoft home and business software with my own money -- amounting to 90.96 to be exact. I kept the receipts for reimbursement.
No reimbursement came -- he claimed it would be included in my "first check" and that my salary would be flat rate of $5,560" paid once monthly. He never confirmed a date for me to fill out paperwork with him, and we never interviewed. He simply kept saying he is on a business trip and will keep me updated. He would send me prepaid USPS labels (which I have saved in my emails) to print, cut out, and paste to each USPS priority envelope. Next, he sent me information needed to create the checks using the software and sent a separate email of each of the people I needed to send the checks to. I’d also like to note that he was pushy about me getting these quickly mailed, and that I had several complications with the Prepaid USPS labels at the post office. He ordered me to keep trying different post offices until they work. I have discontinued contact and have all the emails saved. I also ran a reverse image search on the photo of "Garrett Moore" from the Paestum Foundation website, and discovered the real man in the photos is a deceased professor named David Cooper. I am extremely disturbed by this and have blocked this scammer's email address.
