While looking at Chihuahua puppies, I found a well-done and deceptive website. They indicate that they are a family-owned breeder that cares for the breed. I reverse-searched the images of the available puppies and tried to Google the website, telephone number, and email address to find any potential posts about it being a scam. Once they got in contact via text messages, everything seemed to feel normal. They addressed my questions, sent additional pictures of the puppy, and walked me through the process of receiving the puppy. They provided very detailed information on the process. When asked to proceed, they asked for payment using Zelle, Chime, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. I was provided with the name Soleil Jones as the recipient. They went as far as ensuring that my contact information for delivery was accurate and would provide me with a tracking number and recent for payment. Everything still felt normal until the transaction was initiated, and my bank flagged the payment for review. When I advised them that it was under review what came next were red flags. They became insistent that I contact my bank to tell them I was sending the money to a relative and to release the money. They continued to tell me to follow their advice on what to tell the bank. I immediately called the bank to advise them not to initiate the payment that it was in fact fraudulent. They went as far as to ask me to initiate a second transaction to see if it would go through. This is a very well-done scam. As of today, I haven't disclosed to the scammer that I am on to them. I am continuing to try and collect additional information from them.
