I was contacted through text saying I was selected to interview, my resume was found on zip recruiter, a job site I have used in the past. I accepted the invitation to interview, I was sent a verification code for a zoom IM interview. The job description matched the wage, it was a work from home position (accounting.) I was asked normal/simple interview questions. Then I was told I would have to have money deposited in my bank account to purchase the equipment needed for the stay at home position. This is where I had my doubts, they would need me to purchase through their “trusted vendor.” I currently work for a company that has employees working from home who supply employees with the correct equipment but they do not make you pay for it, and they would send their IT team to help set up. I looked up the company name and I found one website but both my computer and phone said it was not a secure site. When I looked into the website the general manager was the one interviewing me but the email attached said hr. So I’m don’t think he would be two roles. The email was a .org and the website page was a .com. When they offered me a hiring packet it only asked for name, address, social and ability to work legally in the U.S. plus W-4 paperwork. Nothing else. When I asked the hr person for the company website she only gave me the name of the company. I could not find any other information directly affiliated with this company.
