I was on Facebook and received an instant message from one of my Facebook friends claiming that she had won money through a Facebook sweepstakes called The Social Grant Promotion @ facebook.com/socialgrantpromotion. My Facebook friend told me to instant message Mceleod Jason Lee and state that I would like to file a claim. I messaged the gentleman, and he responded asking why it took me so long to file a claim. I replied “I don’t know.” He then responded with “Congratulations, you just won $100,000 dollars. Would you like to receive your winnings in cash or a check?” I requested a check. I was then asked to go to the nearest Walmart and wire $1500 via MoneyGram to cover the taxes. The MoneyGram was to be payable to an individual with an address in Louisiana. I found out later that my friend did not send the original message to me.
