Type of a scam Phishing
For three months, they labored over a simple 3-page website. However, the real horror began in December when they attempted to migrate the website to a new hosting company. One day, without notice, our website and email went down and were offline for over 24 hours. Customer emails were lost and never recovered. For several hours, the website showed a big red banner warning “This connection is Not Private. This website may be impersonating “mywebsite.com” to steal your personal or financial information.” Some of our customers saw this and we lost business from them, as well as other customers who were transmitting confidential email information that was permanently lost. We are still apologizing to our customers and the monetary damage to our company could likely exceed $10,000 in lost revenue and business. I tried to cancel all services with Webnificent, but was told I would need to pay a cancellation fee of $2000.
I live near San Jose and decided to stop by 3031 Tisch Way late December of 2021. When I couldn’t find the office, I asked the receptionist. She stated: “there is no suite 407 or company named Webnificent residing at this address.”
I reported this to my credit card company and the investigation is ongoing. Nonetheless, I continue to receive harassing and threatening phone calls and text messages to this day (March 8, 2022). They use a variety or robo-generated phone numbers -- as soon as I block one, they call on another. They texted on WhatsApp and the icon indicated the message originated in Pakistan.
Their website remains up and running. Somebody needs to shut these guys down!
