The scammer will act like someone in your employer's chain of command, such as your supervisor or colleague. They will send you an email and ask for your cell, because they would like to text you. They will text you within a few minutes saying it's an emergency. They will be swamped with something in the office and ask if you can do them a favor. The favor will be to go buy an Apple gift card. That's when it turns shady, because you know your colleague would not ask you to do this, but now they have your cell number.
