I recently lost my job so I had been applying for multiple jobs daily for about 2 weeks when I was contacted via text message about setting up an online interview for an Administrative Management position that would work from home until July when they would have the new office built. I was told the company would send me the necessary equipment to do the job but then it turned in to a check to deposit to my account and use to purchase the items. I was in contact with the fake HR manager daily, the name and profile they used is from an actual HR Executive with ManPower, and being updated on all the different tasks I would be doing and that training was set up to begin Thursday after I purchased the computer with the necessary programs. Of course that didn't happen. My bank and the bank the check was drawn on confirmed the fraudulent activity but let me tell you they were thorough with this fraud. They used actual executive names of actual members of ManPower. They used their letterhead for the employment offer, they even had an official looking check FEDEX'd to my home with a return address and phone number to a legitimate company. I was offered $10 an hour during training and then $25 an hour after training to do Administrative Officer duties that compare to HR, AP,AR, and other Amin. Executive jobs. I was even given the benefits that I would receive after my probation period including stock option, vacation pay, holiday pay, medical coverage and "a week of rest in December". When I told them there was an issue with the check being counterfeit, they changed their song and dance to how they aren't scamming me and how there was an error in the check process and they will be receiving a statement with a reason why and that they are very angry. Angry because they were caught in fraudulent activities. If you are ever in doubt on possible work from home jobs call the company, but use the number you find online not the one they give you. have your bank do a hold and check on the check to ensure its legitimate. I did this by calling the bank it was drawn on and asking if the remitter of the check was a legitimate person on the account, some businesses post their checks they send out to their bank and this particular company did but not this check, even though the account number was a match it was for the wrong amount! Luckily I have a bank that is top notch on protecting their customers as well as themselves and I didn't lose anything except a tad bit of my pride but this could have been much worse for me and my family had that check of been cashed and I spent it. Thankfully it didn't make it that far and the real HR Executive, the real ManPower Group and their legal team are all aware of this activity. I hope they get them!
