They are trying to solicit donations in the form of gift cards when you engage through the fake page. They are trying to blackmail Tides Canada in order to take it down by asking for money in the form of bit coin.
We have contacted Facebook to take the page down - no action
We have contacted IC3 and filed a complaint.
We have submitted cease and desist letters to both facebook and the gmail address the person is using.
We have reported it to the Canadian anti fraud centre they get 300K cases a year - there will be no action as police do not have the resources.
We have posted information warning people on our website blog page
We have emailed our constituents to warn them.
The Kresge Foundation in the US had the same thing happen with the same phone number and it took them 4 weeks to get it down. We are at week 3.
This is so frustrating. There is no way to escalate this with Facebook directly???? Facebook has taken away every direct way to contact them.
