I was "given" 0.21 bitcoin (BTC) (approx. $13,500. This fluctuated based on the volatility of the crypto market.) to sign up for the Tierdex.com website. I then had to transfer 0.005 BTC to them in order to get "verified." After that, I was promised that I would be able to withdraw the 0.21 BTC from them. After trying to withdraw this amount, I was told by "customer support" that I needed to transfer more bitcoin to them as "insurance." After the "insurance" payment was made, they stated that I need to transfer 0.04 bitcoin for "tax purposes." This final 0.04 bitcoin transaction where I stopped. 0.04 bitcoin, at the time, was about $2,540. "Customer support" was not transparent about any of this prior to any of these transactions and every I sent more, in the hopes of being able to withdraw from them, there was another "hidden fee." Customer support kept saying that this is the last thing that you need to pay for before you can withdraw and this continued until I just quit paying them. I asked for our original investment back and I was told that they did not have access to my account and that there was no way for them to access it and if I wanted any of it back, I would have to pay taxes up front in the form of bitcoin.
