I'm a physician and have received our local award for Top Doc for a couple of years in a row. I received a voicemail from this company called Top Docs and was asked to return the phone call so I did. The woman I spoke with, Ella Lopez, stated that I have been awarded the Top Doc award at a national level and asked me to verify some information. She not only had already contacted me on my cell, but already knew my home address, specialty, and how to spell my entire name. I verified the information she recited to me and then she asked what kind of plaque I would want to receive. At the end she asked for my debit card and that's when I told her no. I went along with this because this is an award at a local level I have received in the past and she already knew all my personal information but at that point is when I ended the conversation. She got pushy and irritated and her tone changed. All red flags. I finally got off the phone. I called my administrative assistant and she helped me look into this and it seems that they have a long running history of being a legit company but they award fake awards and make money off of the plaques that the sell. I never give out my debit card info or even address over the phone. I'm concerned that she already knew my cell and home address. I just wanted to pass this info along because scams like this shouldn't be allowed to exist.
