I received a job for fully remote and part time
Fraudulent Personal Assistant Position
I found it a bit weird since I hadn't applied to anything but after seeing the person and email account was legit, decided to go for it. I needed the money and $400 for 5 or 7 hours of work a week? Uhm, yes please!
Filled out my contact info and this person reaches out via text message. They tell me that I will need to do things such as wait on deliveries and go to the store.
I tell them oh I was told this will be completely online. I can't go anywhere. I don't have a car right now.
They say ok, it can be done online.
They send me an email with a digital check requesting I deposit this $2K check and send them a screenshot of the confirmation it was deposited. I blocked out the last 4 numbers of my account number that were visible.
The email said their name was David Lileks. They told me they were from New York. The area code of the phone number IS a New York area code. Probably the only thing true about this person.
Upon checking my account this morning and seeing the deposit was reversed, I can only assume it was because the check was fake.
Don't fall for this bs. Even if it seems kind of legit and you really need the money.
DON'T. FALL. FOR. IT.
I received an email at my work email address offering a job from home.
