I was contacted after applying for a posting for customer service on LinkedIn as I have been searching for a job and they contacted me on Friday August 11. 2023 via text message saying that my resume and experience would be a good fit for a position that they have available that I have applied for. Told me in the text to go to Microsoft Teams and add Kate Kearney to teams to discuss the job and potential interview. We chatted for about 45 minutes she never came on camera was thinking that is okay since this is a Remote job and she lives in Texas. She told me to be online at 9 AM August 12, 2023 to discuss the job and that an offer letter would be extended if they hiring manager liked my answers. Well I messaged Kate on teams at 9:08 AM on Saturday, August 12, 2023, she got back to me about an hour later and said check your spam as we sent the offer letter for you to sign and fill out the I-9 and W-4 forms and email those back and there was a link in the email to reach out to James Birchall the manager I was going to be reporting to or to add him on Microsoft Teams as well. Which I did. They asked me about how I would like my pay I said direct deposit and then asked me about my mobile deposit limits and I advised. James tells me the company will pay for the company equipment that would be provided and I would be making 28.80 an hour and one week of training with him and then I would go onto my normal duties, he explained benefits and everything making the job sound very real and I haven't ever hear of anything like this going on but my red flags were up so Monday I sign on at 8 AM EST and told I will train till 10 AM EST and then he gave me these essay assignments to right and that continued until Tuesday August 15, 2023. Then he emailed me a check drawn on Chase Bank and said this is company money your experience in the past you know how to handle these items correct and I said yes. So I did the mobile deposit for 4,820.10 and then withdrew the 4600 and was told to take it to the bitcoin machine and send it to this person he provided me the bar code and I was just doing as I was instructed. I then became even more suspicious when I returned that morning and he told me I would need more money and to send it the same way again. I tried to deposit the check again and it failed through my mobile deposit and I then got even more suspicious and I asked James is this legitimate and he claimed yes this is a legitimate company and we are doing this to get the funds to the vendor that is going to be shipping the equipment to you. He sent this elaborate list of items and programs I would need to have on my work laptop computer and then on Wednesday August 16, 2023 I reported on Microsoft Teams that I was reporting for duty and he said the check they sent me yesterday was in error and that a new check would be generated today and that I was to follow the same process. In the mean time I am researching and finding that this does happen and I an praying to god this is not fake and I have been scammed as I am out of work and barely making it and I needed a job to pay my bills and an income. I do have copies of everything I am speaking of the conversations in TEAMS and emails and the checks that they asked me to deposit. I am trying to give these people the benefit of the doubt but it is too fishy to me and now I have been subject to breaking laws and all kinds of stuff and I have never done anything illegal in my life
