This scammer replied to our used car sale ad on Kijiji. Initially they asked us to get a car history report from any site we liked, so we got a Carproof history. They then replied saying that their "lender" required that we specifically supply a report from a specific website, the link to which he/she provided. We declined, and the scammer kept writing back to ask us to get a report from that site. In addition to continuing to ask us to buy a report from that website, the scammer offered to reimburse us for the cost.

It sounded fishy to us, so we called the Toyota dealership, and they had never heard of that particular website, despite the sticker on the site claiming that it's a "dealer approved site." We also called Saanich Police, and they agreed it was most likely a scam.
