Type of a scam Online Purchase
This is the first time I've been scammed in my entire life
Story: the company I used to work for decided to do trademarking. The Guys sounded pretty legit but sounded like from India or Pakistan.
So I bought a base package and was upsold to a medium-tier package.
So after they collected the first payment, I got a call about the next payment which should be government fees. Now I feel stupid that I believed them but they told me that I can't use the standard USPTO fee which is $250. I need to use Plus which is $350. After that, they told: me that I need to pay 2 fees for i"Industry" and for the "advertisement", so $700.
In approximately 7-10 days they called and told that I need to do additional registration for the logo. So additional $700. I sounded strange but I paid
The first signs of scams for me started in me next 10 days. They called and said it needs attestation and I need to pay an additional $1250. I said ok over the phone and they charged the card on file. I didn't tell the number of cards but it looked like they were keeping them on file
I figured out that it scam on the fourth time: they told me that there are problems with the file and they needed an additional $2K with USPTO officially asking from them. They sent PDF file from "USPTO" and that file looked like a fake. I called USPTO and they told me that they paid $250 only for everything and that the money was returned to them and I figured out how bad they scammed me
So I applied a dispute to the bank to return the money.
