Transperfect Imposter - Employment - Fake Check Scam Reports & Reviews (2)

- Astoria, NY, USA • Jan 10, 2024

I was contacted by this person who asked me for some details and to answer "interview questions" online. Then I received a job offer letter with all the benefits I would get (which were all too good to be true/real).

I never had to pass any test regarding the position, which seemed odd.

They also promised to send checks to finance office equipment etc (I was told this had been done before, and that these were fake checks).

I contacted the real HR director of this company and they told me I was scammed.

There was a post on Facebook for a remote job offer $25 an hour from a company called “Transperfect” for a Data Entry Position “No experience needed”, I messaged right away and she sent me the hiring managers email address. It was not a verified company email it was just a plain Gmail address. [email protected]. She insisted on downloading the Google Chat app to communicate. She gave a brief explanation of the company. Then proceeded with an interview, it was never a face to face or over the phone it was through the Google Chat App & all it was, was brief 10 questions. After I answered “interview” questions she proceeded to tell me I had been selected for the position with the job and to send in ID picture & my name & DOB to run a background check. I sent my ID photo front & back. Then sent me an IRS website to also upload pics of my ID to get my background check cleared. I did. Then said I had passed background check. After asked if I was able to receive a check & if I had mobile app services with my current bank institution. I said yes & she responded with she was going to email me a check to deposit to my bank in 30 minutes to deposit to my bank account for the “supplies” I will be needing for the job. I then saw red flags & let her know that I would much rather get a paper check mailed vs. depositing through my bank. She asked why that I shouldn’t worry about it that it’s a secured chat that’s off the company. I then told her to withdraw my job application that I no longer was not interested.
