I called the American Airlines Executive Platinum number (800-843-6200) but mistakenly dialed 800-843-6500. After the call disconnected abruptly, I received a callback from Daniel Russell at 888-849-1704, claiming we had been disconnected and offering assistance. I explained my need to book a flight using my Flight Credit, as the American Airlines website directed me to call reservations after a failed attempt online. Daniel initially mentioned my flight credit was "suspended" but assured me he could resolve it. I provided him with the flight credit details. He proceeded to arrange the reservation but informed me that taxes were not covered by the credit, requesting a credit card for tax charges. After some hesitation, I approved a $99 charge. He promised to email confirmation details, but I never received them. Instead, I received an email indicating only half of the credit could be applied, and I was liable for an additional $450.98. The email instructed me to contact 1-800-433-1790, a number not associated with American Airlines. Concerned, I contacted American Airlines' fraud department, who confirmed they do not use such third-party services for reservations. They are a scam company.
